RETRO2000 is a program builder built around the Akai MPC2000. Build programs, sketch sequences and load straight onto the hardware. No more menu-diving a 2-line LCD.

Running an MPC1000 or 2500? There’s an export for you too - tested on my MPC1000, same program format on the 2500. On another MPC entirely? Join the list anyway - new model support and launch updates land there first.

What it Does

- Build .PGM programs visually: pads, keygroups, velocity layers, mute groups

- The full EB16 filter ladder, decoded from real hardware

- Sketch ideas in the built-in sequencer: 4 sequences, swing, pad mutes, and MIDI export back to the MPC

- Effects and sends routed the way the EB16 does it

- Runs in the browser on iPad and desktop - nothing to install
